The Silver Gate Cover Reveal

Hello everyone,

I am so excited to finally reveal the new cover for The Silver Gate. I have been very lucky with the beautiful designs for my covers. I love the three covers for The Secret Order books, but this time around, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

My excitement began when my editor announced that they were going to approach artist Lisa Perrin to do the cover. She had most recently done the gorgeous cover for Wink, Poppy, Midnight, which I thought was excellent. I kept my fingers crossed, because I believed the tapestry-like, folk art style of her art would be a beautiful compliment to The Silver Gate‘s magical medieval feel.

The only thing I had my heart set on, was that Mildred the hen would make the cover. So I crossed my fingers and waited.

And the results left me breathless.

Here it is, the cover for The Silver Gate!

I believe my initial response to seeing the cover was. “Wow! It’s amazing!” And it was the first time ever, that I really hoped they wouldn’t touch or change a thing. It is perfect, and I owe a huge thanks to Lisa Perrin for her stunning design. I couldn’t be more thrilled, and I can’t wait to share the book with you.

Here is the blurb:

In shepherd boy Elric’s tiny village, people think children like his younger sister, Wynn, are changelings-left by fairies and doomed to curse all around them. As a baby, Wynn was born with developmental delays, and according to the rules, she was supposed to be abandoned in the woods.

Instead Elric’s mother saved his sister and hid her away for eleven years. They live in secret and fear of being discovered, yet their home is full of love, laughter, and singing. Wynn and Elric’s favorite song is about the Silver Gate, a beautiful fairy realm where all children are welcome.

But when their long-absent father returns to sell Wynn to the Lord’s castle as a maid, Elric realizes that folk songs and fantasies can’t protect them from the outside world. They have to run away. Still Wynn believes there’s only one place they’ll ever be safe, and it lies beyond the Silver Gate.

The road to freedom is long and treacherous. If they have any hope for survival, Elric and Wynn must learn to depend on each other above everything else-and discover the magic that always reveals itself when it seems like all is lost.

The Silver Gate is coming soon from Katherine Tegen Books. Look for it in bookstores this January.
